I think the second version was very interesting and contains more facts that the first version.
< I choose the second version to revise due to its consistency with the visual design model.>

The first one is cleaner than the first one and used the colors consistently. However, the second one contains more facts and time frames that really help the user understand the topic. I suggest you include more of your color model and add title and icons to tell the story better.
<As suggested I added one more color to differentiate the timeline of human trafficking and slavery. I added icons to signify and make information quick to understand.>

Color, typography, and lay is consistent with your models. I like the timeline style and the label. Bold the title of the timeline and the label for the timeline to draw attention.
I bolded the timeline keywords and time intervals to draw attention. I also incorporated colors to differentiate.

The layout is consistent. You don't need to italicize the description part if it is bold it makes sense and it is visible. For the timeline bars keet the colors consistent with the model. Add a lighter green gradient color to signify the recent to former.
I kept the color the same because it's only one color from my color model and different opacity levels but reversed the shade level so recent equals full opacity and past means faded. I took off the italicized texts but kept them bolded.

like the second version of the timeline. It emulates your visual model really good. I would use the colors from your color model more.

I like the style of the timeline. The title of the timeline should be a bit slender and divide it into two line to better emulate your visual language model. Change the label of the timeline to Past and Present. Add more colors to the icons.
- reverse the order of the timeline.
I changed the weight of the fonts. changed the wording of the label of the timeline to past & present. I added colors to draw attention.

Critique 1 Message & Emulation
I have placed two different timelines that represent process and time frame. The one in the left is the process and the second one is the time frame timeline that has time intervals and facts about those years in which it influenced the rise of human trafficking and slavery in sub-Saharan African countries.
To emulate my color model I used my color model.
To emulate my visual language model I used the bars used to classify an event.
To emulate my typography model I used same font type and size.

To emulate my color model I used two prominent colors.
To emulate my visual language model I used similar timeline structure.
To emulate the typography model I used sans with the same color and font weight.

Final Display Message & Emulation
This is represented in a graphics that looked like a bar graph but it was a time interval indicator that meant the shorter and darker the bar the more recent the event is and vice-versa.The visual potential is largely represented by a time interval that is classified into a sub-topic of human trafficking history with icons that represented the events. It emulated the model really closely due to its placement, color, and alignment.
To emulate my color model I used colors like dark burgundy, dark blue, and shades of blue to signify the past from the future.
To emulate my visual language model I used a bar graph looking timeline, icons, labels, and text.
To emulate my typography model I used Acumin concept regular.
